HOUSTON — Infantile spasms is a rare disorder, affecting only 1 in 2500 children, however delays in diagnosis and treatment can lead to irreversible deficiencies in development.
Shaun Hussain, MD, MS, Director of the Infantile Spasms Program at Mattel Children’s Hospital at UCLA, was the senior author on a study that examined possible sources of delay in diagnosis and treatment. Dr Hussain sat down with Neurology Advisor at the 2016 American Epilepsy Society Annual Meeting to discuss the crucial gap in awareness among health care providers.
