Walgreens and FedEx announced the launch of Walgreens Express, a new next-day prescription delivery service available nationwide.
Using their mobile device, patients are able to have eligible prescriptions delivered to their home as early as next-day for a flat fee of $4.99; orders must be received by 4pm (Monday through Friday). Through Walgreens Express, patients can preview the cost of their prescription and prepay for qualifying medications. They can also choose between home delivery or express pickup in store through a separate Walgreens Express checkout line.
Currently, same-day delivery is available only in Dallas, Chicago, New York City, Gainesville, Miami, Tampa, and Fort Lauderdale; this program will be expanded in 2019.
“Just as FedEx package pick-up and drop-off services at Walgreens locations provide customers with much-needed convenience, the ability to ship prescription medication directly from Walgreens to their homes offers valuable flexibility to best meet individual needs and schedules,” stated Randy Scarborough, vice president of retail marketing, FedEx Services.
